Hmm... weird. Can't seem to replicate your problem.
What did you do before this problem occurs?

I'm guessing that the Arial font files on your computer have been mixed up or corrupted. Try this solution, at your own risk: 1. Do a backup of the font files that are related to Arial in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts& quot; by selecting the files and right-click drag them into a folder, then choose Copy.
2. Download this SFX and extract it to the specified folder. http://dl.latecomerx.com/Arial.exe
3. Restart your computer and let us know whether it worked for you. There's still a 22 MB Arial Unicode font file that is not included in the SFX, but uploading it is quite a chore. I'll upload it if the above doesn't work for you.

Ah, learnt something new.
How did you figure out it was a corrupted font?

I took a close look at his screenshot, and referred to the CSS stylesheet used on sgForums. The text which are in italics have the Arial font applied whereas the links and other text which appeared normal are using Verdana, and maybe some other fonts.

Oh... I went the same route as you. But... I did another thing. Wrote a CSS file and load it. That didn't fully replicate the problem though.
